Welcome back for another past due review! Hooray? The tarot deck we’re discussing today was featured in one of my YouTube videos over a month ago, and here we are finally talking about it properly. Yes, yes, I continue to be lame, but you know what’s not lame? This deck.
Let me tell you, I was not prepared for everything “The Jolanda Witch Tarot” by Rosie Björkman and Hans Arnold had to offer. If you’re comfortable with a female forward deck, “The Jolanda Witch Tarot” is like a tarot multi-tool. This is a 78-card deck in the Rider Waite Coleman tradition. It features beautiful artwork by Hans Arnold. However, rarely have I encountered a deck that can be many different things to many different people.
“The Jolanda Witch Tarot” comes with a 400-page book. She thicc, as the kids say, or said probably 10 years ago. Each card is given detailed attention. There is a black and white image of the card, along with keywords, astrological association, associated planet, and colors associated with the card. After that Björkman writes about the significance, it’s meaning with regards to relationships, reversed interpretations (if you use them), a practice to try, Herstory (“which reflects our human ancestral outlook on life as spiritual beings in the time preceding his-tory, the time before the patriarchy, the culture of Abraham, before the doctrines of our male Creator/Lord was established.”), the Art of Magic (a way to think magically in relationship to the card), and an examination of the symbolism that can be found in the card. This deck has all the capabilities of a tarot deck, along with an education on Jungian archetypes, shamanism, and storytelling.
“The Jolanda Witch Tarot” by Rosie Björkman and Hans Arnold is an impressive feat of tarot deck creation that should please and impress nearly any user.
