Container Conjure

There is a classic joke on the internet about how witches collect “things,” such as rocks and twigs, books and crystals, bits of fabric and jars. It’s true. I’ve yet to meet anyone who identifies as a witch that doesn’t have piles, boxes, or baskets full of stuff. Even me, who most would barely categorize as a witch, have bowls, baskets, and bottles of “stuff” because you just “never know.” I’m not saying all pack rats are witches, but certainly most witches are pack rats.

Why do I have all this stuff? For when books like “Container Conjure: Crafting Magic with Jars, Bottles, Bags, & More” by Starr Casas come along. To call “Container Conjure” an inspiration to a magical magpie like myself is an understatement. Sure, I’ve made a mojo bag or protective jar on occasion, but Casas opened my eyes to many unexplored opportunities.

This book covers 15 different reasons/motivations for creating a container, and discusses so many things that can contain your work, jars, bottles, bags, tires, gourds, pincushions, conch shells, and more!

If you have ever had an interest in working with containers, I promise you will find “Container Conjure” an invigorating read! And with a foreword from my favorite North American Folk Magic nerd Cory Thomas Hutcheson, you cannot go wrong.
