Beloved

When it was nearly Valentine’s Day and I learned that new age artist Paul Avgerinos had a new album out called “Beloved”, I was hoping that perhaps Avgerinos had finally hit the Barry White phase of his musical career. Sadly, that is not the case. (As an aside, what would a new age Barry White album even sound like?) However, his latest release does have a lot to love.

Firstly, I love the album’s cover art. This might be the first time that one of his album covers really stuck with me. It obviously doesn’t affect the music at all, but I just wanted to mention it. “Beloved” features 11 tracks, some featuring guest musician Kevin Braheny Fortune, and some featuring vocals from Juliet Lyons,

As always, it’s difficult to put the listening experience into words. Avgerinos excels at ambient new age, making most of tracks excellent for meditation, relaxation, and gentle stretching. Many of the tracks feel sensual without being overtly sexual, if that makes sense. Although, I could imagine the album being nice for some sexy couple’s stretching, if that’s your thing. I quite enjoy the title track “Beloved” and I adore the water effect in the song “Flow in Oneness.”

If you want to treat yourself, or someone else you love, to a wonderful listening experience, I highly recommend “Beloved” by Paul Avgerinos.
