What can I say about Paul Avgerinos that longtime readers of The Magical Buffet haven’t heard before? Avgerinos has released easily over 30 albums of new age and jazz music, has won 2 Grammys, yet still did one of my bullshit 10 questions interviews way back when I started this website. Not only is he talented, but he’s a real one (if that’s still a phrase the youths use).
As with almost everything related to The Magical Buffet lately, I’ve fallen behind on talking about Avgerinos and his music. Fortunately, I’ve been given a chance to redeem myself today by discussing his latest album, “Gratitude Joy 3”, a mere 3 months and a few weeks after it was released.
I find myself at loss as to how to describe the sound. Generally, I find Avgerinos’ work falls squarely into one of two camps: gazing out into the distances or refreshing uplift. “Gratitude Joy 3” seems to linger between the two. This album is devotional and “central to its distinctive sound is Siddhant Bhatia’s groundbreaking work with Binaural Beats, masterfully leading listeners into a heightened theta brainwave state for profound rest and meditation.” It’s an enjoyable, if hard to define, listening experience.
If you’re looking for some new music for meditation and/or reflection, I highly recommend checking out “Gratitude Joy 3.”
