Coffee Versus Tea

There are two types of people, coffee people and tea people. I’m a coffee person. I occasionally dabble in tea, frequently when I’m under the weather. Sometimes I’ll even go through a tea “phase” where it’s my preferred beverage. However, I always come back to coffee. It’s why I was always surprised by the lack of witchy coffee content out in the world. I even briefly sold a coffee magic booklet on my Etsy store to fill the void. (I pulled it off the website so I could polish and update it more. If you’re interested, leave a comment!) This is also why I was SO EXCITED to learn about “Coffee Magic for the Modern Witch: A Practical Guide to Coffee Rituals, Divination Readings, Magical Brews, Latte Sigil Writing, and More” by Elsie Wild.

You might recognize Wild’s name from my previous tea-tastic review of her deck “The Herbal Tea Magic for the Modern Witch Oracle Deck.” I loved that deck, and spoiler alert, I love “Coffee Magic for the Modern Witch.” I didn’t think I could become more enamored with coffee, but this book did it! Firstly, this is a fantastic coffee 101. Wild does a great job outlining different types of coffee roasts, brewing methods, and popular serving styles. Then add to all of that useful coffee information a layer of magic! “Coffee Magic for the Modern Witch” is loaded with magical coffee drink recipes and also other ways to incorporate coffee into your magic. What I particularly love about this book is the flexibility the author provides with her ideas. Store bought brews are okay bases, a variety of dairy and dairy substitutes are used, and yes, you can opt for you good ol’ drip coffee maker. Wild’s modern witch isn’t just of this era, but they are busy! Seriously, GET THIS BOOK.

As mentioned before, I recently reviewed a couple tea based witchy book/decks. And I’ll be damned if another tea book didn’t fall in my lap. Get ready tea witches because you’re going to want to know about “Enchanted Teatime: Connect to Spirits through Spells, Traditions, Rituals & Celebrations” by Gail Bussi. I’m not going to lie; you will find a lot of overlap with “Enchanted Teatime” and other magical tea books. BUT, one of the stand out differences is Gail Bussi herself. Bussi weaves touching and insightful personal accounts throughout her book. There were moments reading this book that I genuinely felt my life was missing something from not having more tea in it. Is Bussi in the pocket of “big tea” because damn I need tea now! What Bussi excels at is making tea an event. Whether it’s a holiday or a daily cuppa’, she allows you to build it into something special by providing rituals and tea appropriate snack recipes. No matter how many books about tea you already own, “Enchanted Teatime” is a worthy addition to any collection.
