\n\t\t\u201cOh My God\u201d by Ida Maria<\/p>\n
The frantic pace and build up of those words in Ida Maria\u2019s song \u201cOh My God\u201d cut me to the quick. \u201cOh my god, oh you think I\u2019m in control. Oh my god, oh you think it\u2019s all for fun.\u201d Is there anyone who hasn\u2019t felt that way at one point or another in their life? Where you\u2019re not in control, that everything is most definitely not fine? Well hopefully you\u2019ll find Ida Maria\u2019s beautiful, edgy voice rising into a scream, as therapeutic as I do.<\/p>\n
The rest of Ida Maria\u2019s album \u201cFortress \u2018Round My Heart\u201d is a wonderful mixed bag. The entire album is littered with awesome rock tunes with infectiously catchy melodies. A real stand out in that category is \u201cI Like You So Much Better When You\u2019re Naked\u201d, a rock tune with an amazingly catchy chorus that you can\u2019t resist singing along with that turns the table on rock clich\u00e9s by taking a stab at objectifying men. (But not curing a blogger of creating run on sentences.) Maria\u2019s voice is light and feminine but at other times it\u2019s biting and pushing the edges of her vocal range, in a good way. There are a few smoky ballads as well, such as \u201cKeep Me Warm\u201d and \u201cIn the End\u201d. But for me, Maria is at her best when she\u2019s yelling into a microphone on tracks like \u201cMorning Light\u201d and \u201cStella\u201d and \u201cOh My God\u201d and \u201cQueen of the World\u201d and \u201cDrive Away My Heart\u201d and I really liked this album, can you tell?<\/p>\n
