A HAUNTED MIND is an atrociously awful book written by a bloke who not only repeats false myths about Lovecraft but makes up new lies concerning the American horror writer. The myth that Lovecraft was as strange as his weird fiction is debunked by an actual study of the man’s life, and from reading his correspondence. His many friends have left behind memoirs in which they praise Lovecraft as both a gentleman and a writer. Like all of us, Lovecraft was a flawed human being, and there are ugly aspects of his personality that can in no way be applauded; but to write a book that distorts the man’s life and paints a false biographical portrait is criminal. It will be interesting to see how Curran defends his lies about Lovecraft when he is a guest on COAST TO COAST and has to answer live questions from those who call in.
