I could have said more about what the book of changes is: a compendium of wise sayings, a source of beautiful (if sometimes odd) natural images, and so much else.

There were two lines that really seemed to me to say something unusually clear and important (not that everything Margaret said wasn’t grand!)

This: Finally, until recently almost every trained Sinologist was male. Many of them did not think gender issues were very important.

And this: But it is like any other great text: how it is understood has changed as the people reading it have changed.
