If Fox is implying that the truth is that Jesus is not divine and part of the Trinity, then Fox is too much of a rebel and has succumbed to what Saint Teresa of Avila in her book “The Interior Castle” calls reptiles. I recommend reading the works of the Christian mystics directly, not commentaries on them by intellectuals.

I heard Matthew speak last week and picked up a copy of Christian Mystics. Fox’s sharing of the mystics, historical and modern, combined with his own philosophy taken as a daily dose gives one hope. I savor starting each day with a reading. We need his perspective in our day…a time when conservative righteousness runs rampant with too few counter views to take in.

It is filled with Fox’s brilliant insights and offers much in terms of how to bring life to us as individuals – and most important, how to turn things around in our world devoted to a true “culture of death” – death of imagination, of care, of compassion, of community, of joy, of justice, of the desire and energy to build bridges instead of walls. We have been created to “create” – be life givers, not death dealers.
Fox generates real enthusiasm for this. Read him and dance ….

I’m afraid my knowledge of Christian Mysticism is about on a par with your knowledge of the authors thereof, but this sounds like a book I might even like.
