I share your general teeth-gritted distrust of these types of books (for many of the same reasons) and it is nice to see one that bucks the trend.

I’ve heard that using local honey (in largish amounts, one would assume) will help with allergies. The theory is that homeopathic doses of the some allergins are in the honey and will somehow trigger your body to become less sensitive. It makes sense to me, although I’m not sure I’ve ever followed through long enough to see it it worked.

I also agree with your “tell your doctor everything” advice. The worst they’ll do is give you that blank stare and tell you you’re wasting your money. But there are plenty of herbs and other suppliments that react with medications, so it should at least be on your records, even if the doctor hasn’t got a clue. And do your research any time you start something new.
