Blige’s solo efforts. No fault on her voice, there, just an aversion to most modern R&B.

Bocelli’s classical training really shows here, as he has so much more control over voice and is obviously able to hold notes longer without much effort. I think Blige knew this, though, and leaned on her other strengths. They did sound surprisingly good together, gotta say.

I mean, it must have been a great performance: look how patriotic it made you feel, eh? I half-expected to see a photo of you knitting a red-white-and-blue sweater at the end of the column 🙂
